That 25-million-fragment climb looks ridiculous when you're running ordinary dungeons one at a time. The Escalation loop changes the pace by letting you keep a strong third-floor setup alive, giving you far more control over each session than random farming ever does. If you'd rather skip the prep, Diablo 4 Items can also cover the gaps while you build toward the gem you want.

What Is the Escalation Dungeon Reset Loop
It's a repeatable third-floor farm inside an Escalation Nightmare Dungeon. You clear the early floors once, then keep returning to a loaded reward floor without closing out the run.
You're not locked into one resource either. Pick gem reserves for fragments, or chase other affixes when gold, Obducite, or keys are the real problem.
1. Build the Right Escalation Setup
This part is for players who don't mind spending a few runs fishing for the good roll. The target is a third floor carrying both a specific Gem Reserve and Dark Omen.
Here's what makes the setup work.
• Unlock the Branching Pathways War Plan node so you can choose from three portals instead of one.
• Create Escalation Sigils by transmuting five regular Nightmare Sigils in the Horadric Cube.
• Clear floors one and two quickly, then use the portal choices to steer the third floor toward your needed gem type.
Branching Pathways is the big one. Without extra portal choices, you're mostly gambling and the setup can drag on for ages.
2. Loot the Third Floor Without Ending the Run
This is where the fragment count starts moving. Once Gem Reserve and Dark Omen appear together, stop treating the dungeon like a normal clear.
Prioritize these actions.
• Open every Horadric chest on the third floor, especially on higher Torment levels where reserve drops jump hard.
• Kill the Dark Omen ambusher whenever it appears, since its fragment payout can beat a room of ordinary chests.
• Leave the end boss alive and do not take the exit portal, because either action locks in the completed run.
Specific reserves matter more than the generic Gem Reserve modifier. If you need Amethysts, keep looking until the floor says Amethyst Reserve.
3. Reset the Floor Through a Nearby Normal Dungeon
This step suits players who want speed and don't want to waste time on low-value side content. The trick is making the Escalation back portal disappear before you return.
Run the reset like this.
• Teleport to town while you are still inside the third floor.
• Enter a nearby normal dungeon, such as Seer's Reach, without bothering to clear it.
• Open the Sanctuary map and teleport straight back to the active Escalation Dungeon.
When it works, the third floor reloads with refreshed chests and another Dark Omen spawn. Blizzard could patch this behaviour, so don't plan your whole season around it.
Which Farming Route Should You Choose
Use the loop if you can land Gem Reserve plus Dark Omen; use regular runs if you dislike reset tricks; and use cheap D4 items when time matters more than setup, then put your energy into crafting and upgrades instead.
