是改编自大文豪维克多·雨果著名长篇小说的西区音乐剧《悲惨世界》最为脍炙人口的插曲之一，由法国音乐剧作曲家克劳德-米歇尔·勋伯格和阿兰·鲍伯利（Alain Boublil）共同操刀创作改编，谱就惊世乐章。整首插曲以激越昂然、不屈不挠的革命牺牲精神吸引了无数心怀热血与希望的剧场观众与之共鸣，是虽败犹荣的法国“小革命”（雨果小说ABC朋友社的大致背景为1832年巴黎共和党人起义）最为悲壮的一曲乐章。《悲惨世界》曾被英国BBC电台第二台的听众选为“全国最不可或缺的音乐剧”。
